Training C.A.M.P.

Training C.A.M.P.s are our specialty.  Our daily C.A.M.P. programs are a wonderful way to obtain professional assistance in training your dog, without the stress and loneliness of sending your dog off to boarding school.  Through our signature C.A.M.P. programs, we offer an innovative, practical approach to dog training - based on the concepts of positive rewards, clear communication, and sensible consequences - that is shaped to meet your particular needs.  And since every dog and every family is different, we customize our instruction to resolve the issues - jumping? barking? leash-pulling?  All of the above? - that need the most attention at your home.

Training C.A.M.P.:  It's a partnership. . .

In all of our training programs, your dog stays with us during the day and goes home to you each evening, Monday through Friday.  Each day, your dog enjoys several training sessions with an experienced C.A.M.P. Trainer, plus Lap Time, Nap Time, and (if appropriate) supervised Play Time with other dogs.  Each evening, you'll receive a report card of your dog's progress, then you'll take over, by working with your dog on simple homework assignments.  Every week you will receive a private coaching session with an experienced trainer, so that you can participate in your dog's training progress each step of the way.  3-Week Training C.A.M.P. encompasses all the basics of obedience, including Sit, Down, Shake, Wait, Stay, Leave It, Come Here, walking on a loose leash, working around distractions, and much more.  (Shorter C.A.M.P. programs, such as JumpStart, feature fewer skills.)  Your pet will also go on several off-site field trips, plus receive a complimentary visit to the Shampooch on Graduation Day.

. . .and a process, so after graduation . . .

The most important element necessary to maintain your pet's training at Riverdog is practice, practice, practice!  So we provide three super ways to help you do that.  First is our Lifetime Guarantee of support, which comes complimentary with every 3-week Training C.A.M.P.  This means that if you are experiencing any difficulties or questions regarding your dog's ongoing behavior after graduation, you can bring your dog in and have a private coaching lesson with one of our experienced trainers - at no charge.

Second, since it takes a 'village' (or rather, a 'pack') to train a dog, you can also schedule drop off Refresher Days.  Leave your Training C.A.M.P. graduate with us for a full day of play, maintenance training, and love (this option is also available for graduates of Beyond Basic 102 Obedience!).  Super for young dogs who simply need more 'time on task', and owners who would like a tired, trained dog to pick up after work.

There is also a third option:  schedule an Adventure Hike!  For the more outdoorsy dogs whose owners would like them to practice good behavior on the local trails, we teach dogs to carry a backpack, walk nicely on leash, how to follow behind on narrow trails and how to work on a long line.

Several C.A.M.P.s to choose from.

The length of your dog's training with us will usually be between three and four weeks long.  We have a 3-week basic program for all breeds of dogs, and a 4-week program for dogs with behavior problems, such as food guarding, aggression towards other dogs or people, etc.  We also offer a 1-2 week short course for dogs who already have training, yet need improvement or refreshing, and a 2-week course for off-leash radio collar control.
