A HAPPY ENDING for our freeway stray!

An incredible set of circumstances played out at Riverdog today that resulted in the lost German Shepherd we picked up this morning being identified and returned to her owner!

I was driving to work this morning and noticed a German Shepherd running alongside the I-90 freeway, near Snoqualmie. I pulled over, and the dog came to me, and I managed to leash her up and get her into the car. She had a collar, but the tags looked to have fallen off the rings. When I got to work, I simply took her to my office, started posting 'Found' notices, and made an appointment with Issaquah Vet to bring her over and scan for a possible microchip.

In the meantime, trainer Tatyana came by my office, and immediately exclaimed, 'I know this dog! She was in my puppy class!'

I thought to myself, Really? What are the chances of THAT? But she was certain; so we contacted the owner, who confirmed her dog had turned up missing that morning. She looked at the photo on our Facebook page and sure enough...it was her dog! She and her young daughter picked up the Shepherd this afternoon, thrilled to be united with their beloved pet.

That the dog was socialized to strangers, leash trained, exposed to riding in a car, was picked up by a dog trainer, and identified by her own puppy training class instructor... all contributed to this very happy ending!

Really...what are chances of all that?

Sort of makes one's day.
